On January 2017, Institute for Chinese social sciences research and assessment of Nanjing University published the ranking of source periodicals of CSSCI. Journal of Central China Normal University (Humanity and Social Sciences) stands 3rd among all Chinese comprehensive university journals. The top 10 comprehensive university journals are: Journal of Renmin University of China, Journal of Zhejiang University (Humanities and Social Sciences), Journal of Central China Normal University (Humanity and Social Sciences), Journal of Tsinghua University (Philosophy and Social Sciences), Journal of Nanjing University (Philosophy, Humanities and Social Sciences), Journal of Xinjiang Normal University (Edition of Philosophy and Social Sciences), Jilin University Journal (Social Sciences Edition), Journal of Peking University (Humanities and Social Sciences), Journal of Beijing Normal University (Social Sciences), Fudan Journal (Social Sciences Edition). The rank is based on procedures such as information collection, statistics analyses, review andselection. CSSCI (2017-2018) has 554 source periodicals, among which there are 70 comprehensive university journals. CSSCI is the most important periodical assessment system in China. Our journal stood 3rd in ranking of CSSCI (2014-2016) source periodicals university journals section, and in this new ranking, our journal stands third again.
It is reported that, among the source periodicals of CSSCI, there are 29 periodicals in the region of Hubei, ranking 3rd nationwide. There are eight periodicals which are managed by Central China Normal University, which are: Journal of Central China Normal University (Humanity and Social Sciences), Chinese Linguistics, Foreign Literature Studies, Socialism Study, Education & Economy, Educational research and experiment, Central China Academics, Journal of Modern Chinese History.
